Make a vaselet when you:

  • need a quick hostess gift
  • want to color-coordinate centerpieces at your wedding
  • need a favor or a fun activity at a baby shower
  • want a contrast with the colors of a bouquet
  • want to update a favorite vase for each season

A handful of beads and a little elastic cord are all you need to create a quick accent — the vaselet!

This super quick project is not only a great way to make a dent in your bead stash, but it’s also a low-commitment opportunity for color and design experimentation.

Play with harmonious and contrasting patterns. See how the impact changes when you combine different shapes, sizes, and textures. You can even combine vaselets for a more lush look.

  • beads in a variety of shapes and sizes
  • elastic cord
  • diagonal wire cutters or scissors
  • G-S Hypo Cement
  • tape measure

Put on a happy vase Step 1
1. Measure the neck of a vase and add 6 in. (15 cm). Cut a piece of elastic cord to that length.

2. String enough beads to go all the way around the vase. Check the length, and add or remove beads if necessary.

3. Tie a surgeon’s knot and dot the knot with glue. Trim the excess elastic.
