Crystal and chain bracelet

Tiny-link chain, studded with round or bicone crystals, sets off larger crystals placed on either side of the clasp!

  • 2 12 mm crystals
  • 36 4 mm crystals
  • 6 in. (15 cm) 20-gauge wire
  • 48 in. (1.2 m) 24-gauge wire
  • 29 in. (74 cm) chain, 3–4 mm links
  • 12 1 1⁄2-in. (3.8 cm) head pins
  • 2 6 mm jump rings
  • 5 mm jump ring
  • lobster claw clasp
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters

Check your local bead store for supplies.

1. On a head pin, string a 4 mm crystal. Make a wrapped loop. Make 12 head pin units. Set aside for step 5.

2. Cut a 2-in. (5 cm) piece of 24-gauge wire and make the first half of a wrapped loop on one end. String a 4 mm crystal and make the first half of a wrapped loop. Make 24 connector units.

3. Cut a 3 1⁄2-in. (8.9 cm) piece of chain and cut it into four unequal segments. Attach a segment to each loop of a connector unit. Complete the wraps. Attach the remaining chain segments with connector units. Repeat to make eight chains, each with three crystal connectors, staggering the placement of the connectors.

4. Open a 6 mm jump ring and attach an end link of each chain. Close the jump ring. Repeat on the other end of the chains.

5. Cut a 3-in. (7.6 cm) piece of 20-gauge wire and make a wrapped loop on one end. String a 12 mm crystal and make the first half of a wrapped loop. Attach three head pin units from step 1, a jump ring from step 4, and three head pin units. Complete the wraps. Repeat on the other end.

6. Use a 5 mm jump ring to attach a lobster claw clasp to one end. 
Make sure your jump rings and 20-gauge wire will fit through the links of your chain.

Delicate 2–3 mm chain is supple, but the links may be too tiny for this project.
