Owl obsessed necklace and earrings set

Make a wise and woodsy themed set of jewelry for fall - consider using wood chips instead of cotton when wrapping this woodsy necklace for a seasonal gift!

Owls inspire me. Soon after this porcelain bird flew into my sight, it found its way onto my necklace. I chose components appropriate for a forest home -— wood rondelles, a porcelain link pressed with textured woodgrain, a veined leaf with an earthy, woodsy glaze, and an acorn button. It’s easy to turn your infatuation into jewelry with a theme.

An acorn button serves as the unalloyed clasp for this woodland necklace.

1. Cut an 8–10-in. (20–25 cm) piece of chain and an 18–22-in. (46–56 cm) piece of leather lace.

2. Open a 7 mm jump ring and attach one hole of the lumber link on the focal piece to the chain. Close the jump ring. Use a 5 mm jump ring to attach the leaf to the chain.

3. Attach a 7 mm jump ring to the lumber link’s remaining hole. String the lace and tie a knot. About 3⁄4 in. (6 cm) from the first knot, tie an overhand knot.

4. String a filigree tube bead and two wood rondelles, tying overhand knots between each. Repeat until the necklace is within 2 in. (5 cm) of the finished length.

5. Make a loop large enough to accommodate the acorn button and tie a knot.

6. Open the end link of chain. Attach the button and close the link.
