Peridot and gold necklace

Give an August baby a gift that sets the gold standard by showcasing a burst of peridot with gold beads and findings.
Two-loop gold jangle components give some sassy swing to a classic design.



  • 6 8 mm peridot beads
  • 2 two-loop jangles
  • 5 in. (13 cm) chain, 2 mm links
  • 4 1 1⁄2 in. (3.8 cm) head pins
  • 2 4 mm jump rings
  • pair of earring wires
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters

necklace 16 in. (41 cm)

  • 8-in. (20 cm) strand 8 mm peridot beads
  • 2 8-in. (20 cm) strands 6 mm textured round beads
  • 18 two-loop jangles
  • flexible beading wire,.014 or.015
  • 36 1 1⁄2-in. (3.8 cm) head pins
  • 2 crimp beads
  • toggle clasp
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters
  • crimping pliers (optional)

Round beads from Voices of the Stones, Jangles from T-beads, Check your local bead store for supplies.



1. On a head pin, string an 8 mm bead and make the first half of a wrapped loop. Make 32 bead units (STEP 1). 

2. On each loop of a jangle, attach a bead unit. Complete the wraps as you go. Make 18 dangles (STEP 2).

1. Make the dangles. Cut a piece of beading wire. On the wire, center an 8 mm bead.

2. On each end, string eight dangles, an 8 mm, a dangle, and an 8 mm.

3. On each end, string round beads until the strand is within 1 in. (2.5 cm) of the finished length.

4. On each end, string an 8 mm, a crimp bead, and half of a toggle clasp. Check the fit and add or remove beads if necessary.

5. On each end, go back through the beads just strung and tighten the wire. Crimp the crimp bead. Trim the excess wire.
