Ocean charms bracelet

Combine a variety of beads to make a sea-themed charm bracelet! 

Whether yours is sentimental, whimsical, serious, or kitschy, use leftover beads to assemble a charming bracelet that’s uniquely your own.  


  • 80–90 3–26 mm beads, spacers, and bead caps
  • 2–4 12–26 mm charms
  • 6 1⁄2–8 1⁄2 in. (16.5–21.6 cm) 14 mm chain with figure-8 connectors
  • 25–31 2-in. (5 cm) head pins
  • leaf toggle bar and 9 mm jump ring
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters

1. On a head pin, string three to six beads, spacers, and/or bead caps. Make the first half of a wrapped loop (Basics). Make 22 to 26 bead units.

2. Trim the head from a head pin. Make a plain loop on one end. Open the loop and attach a charm. Close the loop. Make the first half of a wrapped loop. Make two to four charm units

3. Decide how long you want your bracelet to be and cut a piece of chain to that length. Attach a bead unit to a link and complete the wraps. Attach bead and charm units to the remaining links and connectors, completing the wraps as you go.

4. On a head pin, string a leaf toggle bar. Make the first half of a wrapped loop and attach it to one end of the chain. Complete the wraps.

5. Open a jump ring and attach the other end of the chain. Close the jump ring.

TIP: It’s easy to make the bar half of a toggle clasp. In the center of a 4-in. (10 cm) piece of 20-gauge wire, make a loop. On each end, string beads and make a coil.

Attach fish charms to hammered jump rings in three sizes. Or, make two extra bead units in step 1 for earrings.
