Pressed-glass teardrop bracelet

Gorgeous jewelry that works up in less than an hour. Make the bracelet, and matching earrings, too!
Pressed glass teardrop bracelet
This bracelet evokes memories of a vacation to Tuscany. The golden cobblestones surrounded by the colors of wine, bread, and olives remind me why I need to go back some day.
Pressed glass teardrop bracelet Step 1
1. Cut a 2-in. (5 cm) piece of 26-gauge wire. String a teardrop bead and make a set of wraps above it.

  • 5–6 26 mm square beads
  • 30–35 9 mm pressed-glass teardrop beads, in three coordinating colors
  • 4 8/0 seed beads
  • flexible beading wire, .014 or .015
  • 24–28 in. (61–71 cm) 26-gauge wire
  • 2 crimp beads
  • toggle clasp
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters
  • crimping pliers (optional)

2. Make a wrapped loop. Make 12 to 14 bead units.

4. On each end, string: teardrop, bead unit, teardrop, bead unit, teardrop.

Repeat the patterns until the strand is within 1 1⁄2 in. (3.8 cm) of the finished length, ending with a teardrop.

5. On each end, string an 8/0 seed bead, a crimp bead, an 8/0, and half of a clasp. Check the fit, and add or remove beads if necessary. Go back through the last few beads strung and tighten the wire. Crimp the crimp bead and trim the excess wire.
Pressed glass teardrop earrings
Keep it simple with a single dangle or go for an abundance of color on a curved head pin. The teardrop colors shown here are topaz, olivine, and amethyst.
