January garnet lariat_step 1
1. To make a bead unit: On a head pin, string a 12 mm glass pearl. Make a wrapped loop. Repeat with a 10 mm glass pearl and two rectangle beads.

2. Decide how long you want your necklace to be. Double that measurement and add 6 in. (15 cm). Cut two pieces of beading wire to that length. Center 11⁄2 in. (3.8 cm) of chips on each strand.

4. On each end, string chips until the strand is within 1 in. (2.5 cm) of the finished length. String a crimp bead and a bead unit. Check the fit, and add or remove chips if necessary. Go back through the beads just strung and tighten the wire. Crimp the crimp beads and trim the excess wire.
