Paper heishi bead bracelet

Combine two different shapes for a simple, stylish bracelet

I had these amazing paper beads from Debra Schwartz on my beading table for months. One day I said, “I’m going to make something with these today!” The design is very simple, but with a good foundation and some fun square bead caps, it comes together nicely.

  • 13–15 12 mm paper heishi beads
  • 6 mm round bead
  • 15–17 80 seed beads
  • 2 12-22 mm charms
  • 26–30 7 mm square bead caps
  • flexible beading wire, .014 or.015
  • 1 1⁄2-in. (3.8 cm) head pin
  • 6 mm jump ring
  • 2 crimp beads
  • 2 crimp covers
  • toggle clasp
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters
  • crimping pliers (optional)

Step 2
1. Cut a 13–14-in. (33–36 cm) piece of beading wire. String an 80 seed bead, a bead cap, a paper bead, and a bead cap. Repeat until the strand is within 1 in. (2.5 cm) of the finished length. String an 80.

2. On each end, string a crimp bead and half of a toggle clasp. Go back through the last few beads strung and tighten the wire. Crimp the crimp bead and trim the excess wire. Close a crimp cover over each crimp.
