Bead and bulbs necklace

Make a brilliant statement with ready-to-string light bulbs

For this easy necklace project, I strung flat beads, groups of jump rings, and these clever little light bulbs. The bulbs come pre-drilled, which means having a light bulb moment just got a little easier.

See the instructions below, or click here to download the free project PDF.

Step 2

1. Close all of the 4 mm jump rings. Cut two 4–8-in. (10–20 cm) pieces of chain and a 12-in. (30 cm) piece of beading wire. Center a large light bulb on the wire.

2a. On each end, string: three jump rings, bead, three jump rings, small light bulb.

2b. Repeat step 2a, substituting a large light bulb for the small. Repeat step 2a.

3. String three jump rings, a crimp bead, a spacer, and an end link of chain. Go back through the last few beads strung and tighten the wire. Crimp the crimp bead and trim the excess wire.

4. Check the fit, and trim chain from each end if necessary. On each end, use a 5 mm jump ring to attach half of a toggle clasp.

If you use fine-gauge jump rings, string five or six between the beads and bulbs instead of three.
