Rita and Julie, a mother-and-daughter beading team, were inspired by the Caribbean island of Curaçao.

The island’s colorful multistory buildings, sparkling water, bright sunshine, and tropical trees are all captured in these designs. Rita visited the island on a cruise and transferred a photo she took of the local architecture onto graph paper.

Her bracelet pattern is an extended view of the waterfront, with a lone palm tree standing proudly on the beach. She stitched her bracelet in flat even-count peyote. It measures 7 x 1 3⁄8 in. (18 x 3.5cm).

Julie stitched the business card holder in flat odd-count peyote with the same design on both sides, zipping up the edges on three sides to form the holder that measures 4 x 2 1⁄2 in. (10 x 6.4cm).
