Winners of the March 2020 DESIGN CHALLENGE

Discover who the winners are this month! And get a sneak peek at upcoming Design Challenges.

In March, we asked our readership to send jewelry submissions inspired by “ERIN GO BRAUGH: Ireland forever!” The Emerald Isle! 40 shades of green! Rolling hillsides and rugged mountain ranges encase inland bogs and loughs. The submissions certainly celebrate the spirit of the challenge: green shamrocks, Celtic symbols, and even a rainbow with a pot of gold. What a bunch of diverse and fabulous entries.

We hope the contest is an uplifting experience for you. Due to the dire conditions and death toll caused by the coronavirus, we would like to express our deep concerns and sincere wishes to all those struggling with this global health emergency.

Also, thank you to all who participated in the March 2020 DESIGN CHALLENGE. We appreciate your hard work and creativity, and all those who took the time to vote. We can’t wait to see what you send us next month!  Until then, here are the March 2020 winners!

Readers Choice Winner

Mary Drayer

Inkster, Michigan

Congratulation, Mary Drayer! The viewers overwhelmingly voted your bracelet as their favorite.

Here’s how Drayer describes her pearl and wire macramé piece:

“The circle is a symbol of eternity. It is one of the oldest symbols of spirituality. This appeared in the 9th century in the Book if Kells  as a decoration with no particular religious significance. The symbol has been found in Norwegian churches dating to the 11th century. The Celtics viewed the world with everything favoring groups of threes:

  • Three Stages of life, death, and rebirth
  • Three Elements of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • Three Domains Earth, Sea, Sky.”

“Lucky Clover Necklace

Iryna Migal

Magdeburg, Germany

Herzliche Glückwünsche! Well done to Iryna Migal of Germany!

Iryna Migal shared her fabulous stitched necklace, which uses 11/0 and 15/0 seed beads.

She tells us: “The four-leafed clover is the symbol of good luck. The four leaves symbolize faith, hope, love and luck.”

You can contact Iryna Migal through her Facebook site.

She made this gorgeous necklace using Czech beads, Miyuki beads, soutache cord, metallic elements, and leather. Plus, it took a little patience and inspiration!
