In December we requested to see your jewelry with SHIMMER AND SHINE! What we received would make Elsa and TK from "Frozen" drool: Sparkling chandelier earrings, wintry kumihimo  necklaces, and gorgeous shimmering crystals. Without ado let’s talk about the winners. I’m happy to announce the four winners — three selected by the Facet and Bead&Button staff — and one READERS CHOICE AWARD— you get to vote for every Design Challenge between the 15thof that month through the 5th of the following month.

By Gabriella Jasz of Biatorbagy, Hungary

Nice job with this soutache and embroidered necklace! Gabriella tells us: “I was inspired by the glittering of snow on pine branches during the night.”

Butterflies in Time

By Rosemary Holland of Australia

Rosemary Holland spent most of her life in Southern Africa and has always been inspired by the color and vibrancy of Africa. She now lives in Hallidays Point, a beautiful region in the Manning Valley on the mid-north coast of New South Wales, Australia, where she continues to be inspired by nature.

Her piece, Butterflies in Time, features a beautiful beaded embroidery collection, highlighting a glass cabochon and Swarovski rhinestones and rivoli.

When asked if she is living through the Australian fires, she wrote: “I am still here and fortunate to be far away from them, but it's devastating watching so many people losing their homes and the loss of wildlife is horrifying. The fires seem to be on the increase yet again. We pray for more rain every day. People from around the world are being very supportive for which we are very grateful.” Our thoughts and prayers go out to all in Australia!

Rosemary's blog features many bezeled pendants and other lovely pieces; be sure to take a look!

Reader’s Choice Award

Pure Heart

By Delia Cepoi of Yellowknife, Canada

This month the FACET readers voted and selected Pure Heart as the winner. Growing up in Sibiu, Romania, Delia Cepoiwas drawn to art at a young age and later immigrated to Canada to pursue architecture. Now a retired architect, Dalia currently devotes her time to creating small works of art. She says she is a “designer in every cell, free spirit by every breath...”

She describes Pure Heart as follows: “It is an intrinsic beauty in the regularity, yet unconformity, shine and shimmer of ice crystals. There is a balance which makes the crystalline structure perfect, pure pleasure for the artistic eye. Inspired by the beauty of subarctic winter, my necklace was designed as a gift from my heart to my dearest friend. I envisioned this design as a perfect combination of purity, and sparkle meant to express my true feelings.”

Congratulations to all of our winners! We are so thrilled each month to see the creative designs that our readers share with us.

Come join in the fun! There is still time to enter the current Design Challenge, January 2020, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR.  Submissions will close for this challenge on the last day of the month. (Psst: The February Challenge will be VIVE L'AMOUR!)
