Coming together for hurricane relief

ImpressArt creates a tool in support of Houston hurricane relief efforts
Hearts with Houston metal stamp 2

As communities across our nation struggle to rebuild following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey (and await news of the devastation from Hurricane Irma), one jewelry tool manufacturer is leading the way in relief efforts in the jewelry community.

ImpressArt, one of the largest manufacturers of metal stamping tools and supplies, has created this 12 mm Ultra Detail Stamp called "Hearts with Houston." It can be used to stamp on any soft metal, including brass, copper, aluminum, Alkemè, pewter, gold, silver, and nickel silver as well as clay and wood. You can use this stamp to create a larger charm to use as a focal point of a necklace, or a tiny tag to add to a piece as a show of support for the 32,000 displaced residents of Houston, Texas.

50% of the proceeds from each stamp sold will be donated to Habitat for Humanity and their effort to rebuild Houston following the horrific aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

From Laura Avitabile of ImpressArts:

The “Hearts with Houston” stamp was developed with a “pay it forward” concept in mind. While every customer is encouraged to use their stamps as they please, the hope is that some jewelry designers who purchase the stamp will create jewelry that they can use in their own fundraising initiatives to support Houston relief efforts.

If people do decide to create jewelry to raise money for their own efforts, we hope that they will share it using the hashtag #HeartsWithHouston on social media!

What a great way to show our support for our friends in Texas. ImpressArts' tools are always great quality: they are precision-cut with jewelry design in mind, made from hardened steel, and in my experience, they last forever. We'll be reviewing some of their new Ultra Detail stamps on Facet in the next few weeks; they are nice and heavy, easy to hold with a large striking surface, and most importantly for me, super easy to always align in the correct direction (I always seem to stamp things upside-down).

PJ Tools has the "Hearts with Houston" stamp available now for $30.00 -- but remember that 50% of the proceeds will be donated. It's an easy way to contribute to those in need and also to show support through your own jewelry designs. Be sure to visit the ImpressArt website for more information and to see the wide range of jewelry making products that they have available.

We hope all of the jewelry makers out there are safe and sheltered from not just Irma and Harvey, but the wildfires in the west, and the next approaching hurricane, Jose. We would love to hear any other stories of the jewelry community coming together for disaster relief. If you have a story to tell, please email us at so that we can help you spread the word via social media.
