How much easier can it get than one piece of wire and ten beads? Metal tube beads are always a good option — try Hill Tribes silver for its earthy, oxidized finish. Vintage tubes in a funky color are also fun. If you use glass beads, bend the wire carefully to avoid breaking the beads.

  • 20 10–12 mm tube beads (Fire Mountain Gems and Beads,
  • 18 in. (46 cm) 22-gauge half-hard wire
  • pair of earring wires
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters
Star power Step 1
1. Cut a 9-in. (23 cm) piece of wire. String a tube bead, leaving 2 in. (5 cm) of wire above the bead. Bend the wire next to the bead. String nine more tubes, bending the wire next to each bead to form a star shape.
Star power Step 2
2. Bend the wire’s longer end upward to make a stem. Wrap the shorter end around the stem as in a wrapped loop.
Star power Step 3
3. Complete the wrapped loop.
Star power Step 4
4. Open the loop of an earring wire. Attach the dangle and close the loop. Make a second earring to match the first.
