Silver ringlet earrings

Like a mountain spring, these remarkably easy earrings just flow... and are refreshingly beautiful!

The spiral is a universally recognized design element. Throughout the world, prehistoric rock carvings and paintings stand as a testament to its power to continually inspire human creativity. With these earrings, simple coils of silver wire conjure up this ancient symbol while reinterpreting it in a thoroughly modern style.

Lovely and delicate, these 1 x 2-in. (25.5 x 51mm) earrings will be finished and ready to accentuate the curve of your jawline within hours of your beginning this project.

Make a basic top loop. Cut two 1 1⁄2-in. (38mm) pieces of 18-gauge (1.0mm) sterling silver wire. Grip the wire’s tip with the base of your roundnose pliers (1⁄8 in. [3mm] jaw diameter).

Position the pliers where the loop meets the stem. Gently squeeze at this spot while shifting the loop backward to center it on the wire.

Measure 1⁄8 in. (3mm) from the base of the loop, grip the wire with the tip of your chainnose pliers, and bend the wire 90 degrees.

This bend will make the stem of the wire perpendicular to the loop.

Repeat with the second piece of wire.

Make the coils in the short dangles.

To coil the wire stem so there is no hole at its center, grip the tip of the stem with the very tip of your chainnose pliers.
