Does anyone remember being given a catalog as a kid and circling all the toys and games you wanted Santa to bring? We’re doing much the same here at Bead&Buttonheadquarters, except instead of a toy catalog we’re poring over the 2020 Bead&Button Show Class Catalog. We’re highlighting jewelry-making classes, checking them against our calendars, and planning ahead for the day when registration opens.

You can join us! View a PDF version of the catalog here or, beginning noon central time on Tuesday, Dec. 17, view all the classes on the Bead&Button Show website. Starting Tuesday, Jan. 7, you can start registering online. You’ll love what you find: hundreds of classes in jewelry-making techniques of all kinds, from bead-stitching to wire-weaving, from kumihimo to enameling, from metalwork to loomwork. You’ll polish the jewelry-making skills you have and add new ones to your repertoire. And in many cases you’ll leave with a gorgeous necklace, bracelet, or pair of earrings to wear.

  • Helena Tang-Lim has been announced as the 2020 recipient of the Excellence in Jewelry Artistry Award, which will be presented at the Show. We know Helena from her visits to past Shows, and we’ve showcased her designs in the magazine. The award is certainly well deserved! Read more about the award here, and learn about her Master Class here. Congratulations, Helena!
  • The online entry form for the 2020 BeadDreams competition is now available! If you’re thinking about entering (and we hope you do!) you might want to set up your account and visit the site to become familiar with the process: find it right here.

  • We love this Q&A with David Huang, who is another 2020 Master Class teacher. David is an amazing metalsmith and we’re thrilled he’s back to teach. In the interview, he shared some insights into his creative process and his teaching style. He also explained why he has never owned a cell phone!
