Vintage dichro bracelet

Combine 1920s-style components with dichroic glass for a fast and flashy bracelet

Reacquaint yourself with the flapper era each time you wear this eclectic bracelet. For a look that’s equal parts old-fashioned and ultra-modern, choose crystal rondelles and vintage components with rhinestones that highlight a color in the dichroic glass beads. You’ll create a timeless piece in no time at all.

SUPPLIES

  • 3 15 x 24mm double-drilled rectangular dichroic glass beads
  • 4 12 x 24mm vintage components
  • 17 5–6mm crystal-studded rondelles
  • 35 4mm bicone crystals
  • 8 3mm spacer beads
  • flexible beading wire, .014 or .015
  • 4 crimp beads
  • 1 1⁄2-in. (3.8cm) head pin
  • two-strand clasp with chain extender
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters
  • crimping pliers (optional)

Editor's tip: Choose flexible beading wire in a color to match the dichroic glass beads.

INSTRUCTIONS

1a. Determine the finished length of your bracelet, add 5 in. (13cm), and cut two pieces of beading wire to that length.

1b. String a dichroic glass bead over both wires.

2a. On each end of each wire, string: bicone crystal, crystal-studded rondelle, bicone, vintage component, bicone, rondelle, bicone.

2b. On each side, repeat step 1b. Repeat step 2a.

3. On each end of each wire, string a spacer, a crimp bead, a spacer, and the respective loop of half of the clasp. Go back through the beads just strung and tighten the wires. Check the fit, and add or remove beads from each end if necessary. Crimp the crimp beads and trim the excess wire.

4. To make a dangle, string a bicone, a rondelle, and two bicones on a head pin. Make the first half of a wrapped loop above the top bead.

5. Attach the dangle’s loop to the end of the chain and complete the wraps.
