Bali beaded bead necklace and bracelet

An ancient craft fits contemporary design perfectly
Balibeadedbeadnecklacehero

Artisans from Bali make each of these beaded beads by weaving thousands of tiny glass seed beads around a plastic or wooden mold. Each bead takes up to three hours to make. Felt balls, made in Nepal, are a quiet contrast to the ornate beaded beads, while silver wire swirls and brushed rondelles unite the asymmetrical pattern.

Design alternatives
BalibeadedbeadnecklaceDesAlt2
Beaded beads with gold patterns look elegant strung on memory wire with gold tubes and cones.

Rubber tubing and a swivel clasp are less costly and formal than the chain and toggle clasp in the original necklace version.
Tip!
  • Use a tapestry needle to pierce a hole through the felt beads.
  • Keep your necklace asymmetrical yet balanced. String the larger beads toward the center, and smaller beads on the ends of the beaded strand.
