A few of our favorite things

Create colorful ornaments with unusual glass beads

Candy-sized pillows
And icicles bright,

Egg-shaped and round glass
That sparkle with light

Ornaments that take
Just moments to string,

These are a few of
Our holiday things!

DESIGN GUIDELINES

  • Use craft or gold-filled wire. Avoid sterling-silver wire, which will tarnish in storage.
  • Select tarnish-resistant chain and spacers. Chain from thrift-store jewelry works well and is inexpensive. Or, try colored chain!
  • To string wire through a squiggle bead: String the wire through the eye of a twisted-wire beading needle. Make a fold in the wire about an inch (2.5cm) from the end. Pass the needle through the bead, pushing the wire from the other end as necessary.
  • Consider the size of the area you want to decorate. The pillows’ small size makes them ideal for tabletop trees, while icicles enhance window space, mantels, or bigger trees.
  • You'll need chainnose and roundnose pliers and a diagonal wire cutters to make all of these styles!
