You’re no diamond in the rough — no matter what, your style is both polished and effortless.

To fake a brilliant sparkle, whip up a pair of crystal-and-cubic-zirconia earrings. With simple plain loops and preset earring findings, you’ll be ready to dazzle in under 15 minutes!


  • 2 10mm round crystals
  • 2 6 x 9mm drop crystals, vertically drilled
  • 2 4mm bicone crystals
  • 4 in. (10cm) 22-gauge sterling silver half-hard wire
  • 2 1-in. (2.5cm) 22-gauge sterling silver head pins
  • pair of lever-back earring wires with 6mm cubic zirconias (House of Gems,
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters

1. String a bicone crystal on a head pin. Make a plain loop above the bead.

2. Cut a 1-in. (2.5cm) piece of wire. Make a plain loop on one end. String a drop crystal and make a plain loop above the bead. Repeat with a round crystal.

3. Open the loop of the bicone unit. Attach the bottom loop of the drop unit and close the loop. Attach a loop of a round unit to the drop unit’s top loop.

4. Open the loop of an earring wire and attach the dangle. Close the loop. Make a second earring to match the first.
