February birthstone: Easy amethyst bracelet

This bracelet unites different shapes of amethyst and pearls in one harmonious strand.

 For the focal point, try a faceted chunk of amethyst or an unexpected piece of carved jasper that reflects the color in the coin pearls and briolettes.

 SUPPLIES

  • 25–30 mm focal bead
  • 6–8 11–14 mm coin pearls
  • 18 6–8 mm amethyst briolettes
  • 16–18 2–3 mm round spacers
  • flexible beading wire, .014 or .015
  • 2 crimp beads
  • toggle clasp
  • chainnose or crimping pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters

1. Cut a piece of beading wire. Center a spacer, a focal bead, and a spacer.

2. On each end, string a pearl, a spacer, three biolettes, and a spacer. Repeat until the bracelet is within 1 in. (2.5 cm) of the finished length.

3. On each end, string a spacer, a crimp bead, a spacer, and half of a clasp. Check the fit, and add or remove beads from each end if necessary. Go back through the beads just strung and tighten the wire. Crimp the crimp bead and trim the excess wire.
Tip!
For a budget-friendly alternative, substitute unfaceted amethyst drops for the briolettes.
