Basic black and white necklace and bracelet

Tip!
Keeping the palette focused makes for a bracelet that looks anything but unplanned. To maintain balance, I strung larger beads toward the center and stuck to a general pattern of two black/white beads followed by one mint.
 

Supplies

necklace 29 in. (74 cm)

  • 16-in. (41 cm) strand 18 mm round Lucite beads
  • 16-in. (41 cm) strand 14 mm round dyed jade beads
  • 18–21 5 mm bicone crystals
  • 22–25 3 mm bicone crystals
  • flexible beading wire,.014 or.015
  • crimp bead
  • chainnose or crimping pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters 

bracelet

  • 17–23 6–18 mm assorted beads
  • 4 4 mm round beads
  • flexible beading wire,.014 or.015
  • 2-in. (5 cm) head pin
  • 2 crimp beads
  • lobster claw clasp and soldered jump ring
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters
  • crimping pliers (optional)

1. necklace • Cut a 35–38-in. (89–97 cm) piece of beading wire. String a 14 mm round bead and a 3 mm bicone crystal. Repeat until you’ve strung 14–16 in. (36–41 cm) of beads. End with a 14 mm.

2. String a 5 mm bicone crystal and an 18 mm round bead. Repeat until you’ve strung 14–16 in. (36–41 cm) of beads. End with an 18 mm.

3. String each end in opposite directions through a crimp bead and a 5 mm and tighten the wire. Crimp the crimp bead and trim the excess wire. Slide the adjacent 18 mm over the crimp.

1. bracelet • Cut a 13–15-in. (33–38 cm) piece of beading wire. Center 5–7 in. (13–18 cm) of beads.

2. On one end, string a 4 mm bead, a crimp bead, a 4 mm, and a lobster claw clasp. Go back through the beads just strung and tighten the wire. Crimp the crimp bead and trim the excess wire.

3. String each end in opposite directions through a crimp bead and a 5 mm and tighten the wire. Crimp the crimp bead and trim the excess wire. Slide the adjacent 18 mm over the crimp.
