I rarely think about Christmas in July, but come January I find myself yearning for the sunny days of summer. This year, I’m so ready. But don’t wait for the mercury to rise before you make these fluorescent accessories. A dose of neon may be just the remedy you need to ease your longing for summer.

Supplies

Necklace 21 in. (53 cm)

  • 6–10 10 mm yellow crystal pearls
  • 28–40 6 mm orange crystal pearls
  • 14–20 6 mm pink crystal pearls
  • 28–40 4 mm orange crystal pearls
  • 56–70 4 mm pink crystal pearls
  • 84–110 4 mm flat spacers
  • 6 in. (15 cm) 22-gauge wire
  • 46–70 1-in. (2.5 cm) eye pins
  • 17 6 mm jump rings
  • lobster claw clasp
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters

Earrings

  • 2 6 mm orange crystal pearls
  • 2 4 mm pink crystal pearls
  • 2 10 mm wavy spacers
  • 2 24 mm trefoil links
  • 2 1-in. (2.5 cm) decorative head pins
  • pair of earring wires
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters

Components

Neon snowflake necklace pink unit
Pink unit

On an eye pin, string: pink 4 mm pearl, spacer, orange 6 mm pearl, spacer, pink 4 mm. Make a plain loop perpendicular to the first loop. Make 26 to 30 pink units.

Orange unit

On an eye pin, string: orange 4 mm, spacer, pink 6 mm, spacer, orange 4 mm. Make a plain loop perpendicular to the first loop. Make 14 to 18 orange units.

Yellow unit

On an eye pin, string a yellow 10 mm pearl and make a plain loop perpendicular to the first loop. Make six to 10 yellow units.

Large loop unit

Cut a 3-in. (7.6 cm) piece of wire. Make the first half of a wrapped loop. String beads as in the pink unit. Make a large wrapped loop perpendicular to the first loop.

Clasp unit

Cut a 3-in. (7.6 cm) piece of wire. Make the first half of a wrapped loop. String beads as in the pink unit. Make the first half of a wrapped loop perpendicular to the first loop. Attach a lobster claw clasp and complete the wraps.

Necklace – Instructions 

1. Make the components. Use the bib in the free project PDF above as a template to lay out the bead units. Use jump rings to attach pink units and orange units, opening and closing the jump rings as you go.

*TIP: Use orange units around the edge of your bib. Use pink units for the snowflakes.

2. Connect orange units, yellow units, and pink units until the necklace is within 2 in. (5 cm) of the finished length.

*TIP: These faux pearls fit perfectly on short eye pins. So, no need to trim wire after making the loops!

3. Attach the loop of the clasp unit and complete the wraps.

4. Attach the small loop of the large-loop unit and complete the wraps.

Earrings – Instructions 

1. For each earring: On a decorative head pin, string a pink pearl, a wavy spacer, and an orange pearl. Make a plain loop.

2. Open the bead unit’s loop and attach a link. Close the loop.

3. Attach the dangle and the loop of an earring wire.
