Show your school spirit with these easy-to-make bracelets
School spirit group shot

It’s football season which means games, homecoming and tailgate parties. Show your school pride by making something subtle, but super stylish, to wear to those events when your comfy old sweatshirt just won’t do.

One of the versatile things about school spirit jewelry is that it can be easily customized to any team or sport. Yes, hard to believe, but there are a vast array of school sports other than football. I’m all about cheering my kids on at their latest sporting event. Let’s show some pride for the soccer, tennis, and even mountain biking teams!

Some teams do carb-loading parties before a big game or meet. Why not host a jewelry making party before one of the competitions for all of the fans to make matching spirit wear? For those who plan ahead, these could also be memorable thank you gifts for teachers at Christmas or the end of the school year, too.

Here are three different bracelets where you can, quite literally, wear your heart on your sleeve.

Badger Bracelet
Pre-made bangle
It can’t get much easier than this bracelet. Sparkly charms are attached to a pre-made wire bangle. Dreamtime Creations offers a plethora of bedazzled charms, pendants, and earrings, including CZ encrusted footballs, soccer balls, and basketballs in your favorite team color combinations. They even have this handy Swarovski Team Color Chart. NFL and college team charms can also be found on Etsy and at most NFL team stores.
Pirate Bracelet
CraftFantastic bracelets and pendants

Have you seen our product spotlight video with CraftFantastic? I used one of their products to make this team bracelet, using an image of the mascot for a local high school. I printed out the artwork on a color printer, then glued the glass dome directly onto the image, as shown in the video. I let it dry for about 15 minutes or so, and cut off any excess paper along the edges. Then I used the little sticker dot to attach it to the bezel.

You could also create something similar looking using resin in a bezel, also with printed artwork. But always seal paper with white glue or Modge Podge before putting it in resin, for best results!

Pewaukee Wrap Bracelet
Metal-stamped wrap bracelet
Next, I thought I'd try to give school spirit wear more of a trendy, boho look--to contrast the popular blingy, crystal look. I was inspired by this Wrist Full of Words project by Jen Cushman. It incorporates a variety of mixed media, including words stamped on metal, combined with wire-wrapping, fiber, beads, and some handmade components and findings.

For my version, I chose an antique copper color palette, and used a variety of beads and pre-made components and findings. Construction of the bracelet required little more than opening and closing jump rings, a bit of metal stamping, and a few wrapped loops. For the metal-stamped components, I used precut and drilled hammered flat tags. My toggle clasp is from from Nunn Designs.

The beauty in this design is that not everything needs to match; I just had to stay within the same color palette. I was able to use a wide variety of beads; I even found some little carved soccer balls in a drawer in the workroom! Charms could be easily added on, too, but I didn't happen to have any on hand in the antique copper color.

After the bracelet was done, I found a cute little soccer ball metal stamp, made by ImpressArt. I think I might use it to make a stamped border, or maybe a charm to add to the bracelet. That’s the great thing about a bracelet like this one, it can be a work-in-progress as interests change. There are a variety of metal stamps on the market; check out these and see if there's something that represents your kids' hobbies! It will be easy to add some basketballs or footballs to this bracelet if my son decides to take up a new sport.

The most important thing is to be creative and show your pride!
