Flowers

1. On 4 ft. (1.2 m) of thread, pick up 12 color A SuperDuos. Tie the beads into a ring with a square knot, leaving a 6-in. (15 cm) tail. Sew through the next A in the ring, and continue through the open hole of the same A (FIGURE 1, a–b).

2. Pick up two color B SuperDuos, skip the next A, and sew through the following A (b–c). Repeat this stitch five times to complete the round (c–d).

Note: Each pair of Bs will push out on the skipped A, causing the A to point away from the Bs. Make sure that the pairs of Bs all point up toward you and the skipped As point down and away from you.

Retrace the thread path of the entire round (not shown in the figure for clarity), pulling tight to cup the beadwork. Exit between two Bs in a pair, and sew through the open hole of the B your thread just exited (d–e).

3. Pick up an 8/0 seed bead, and sew through the first B in the next pair (FIGURE 2, a–b). Pick up a 3.4 mm drop bead, and sew through the second B in the pair (b–c). Repeat these stitches five times to complete the round (c–d).

Note: Make sure that each drop is added between two Bs in the same pair, and that each 8/0 is added between two adjacent pairs of Bs.

Retrace the thread path of the round, pulling tight to reinforce the cup shape.

4. Sew through the beadwork to exit an A that was not skipped in step 2, that is, one of the As that has been incorporated into the cup shape and is not pointing down and away from you. Exit the hole of the A that is closest to the center opening of the flower.

5. Place a 5 mm rose montée in the flower so that the rhinestone faces up inside the cup of the flower. Holding the montée in place, turn over the flower so you are working on the back.

6. With your thread still exiting the A (back of flower shown in FIGURES 3–4), sew through the nearest hole of the montée, exiting the opposite hole. Sew through the opposite A in the flower, and continue back through the same two holes of the montée as before. Sew through the first A again, so that your thread is exiting exactly where it exited at the start of this step (FIGURE 3, a–b).

7. Sew through the next three As (b–c), this time exiting an A that was skipped in step 2. Work as in step 6, sewing through the remaining two holes of the montée. End the tail but not the working thread.

8. Still working on the back of the flower, sew through the beadwork to one of the As that was skipped in step 2, and sew through the open hole (FIGURE 4, point a).

9. Pick up a 6/0 seed bead, an 8/0, a B, an 8/0, and a 6/0, and sew through the open hole of the next skipped A (FIGURE 4). Repeat this stitch five times to complete the round. Retrace the thread path of the round, tying a few half-hitch knots as you go, and end the tail but not the working thread.

10. Make a total of five flowers.

Connections

1. Position a flower face up on your work surface so that you have one outer B at the top of the piece, one at the bottom, and two on each side. The side Bs will form the connections. Sew through the beadwork to exit one of the side Bs, and sew through the open hole of the same B. Your thread needs to be pointing toward the outside edge of the beadwork (FIGURE 5, point a), on either the top or the bottom edge; it should not be pointing toward the other SuperDuo on this side. Position a second flower next to the first.
note If your thread is pointing in the wrong direction, sew through the beadwork as necessary to exit in the correct direction.

2.
With the thread from the first flower, work the following stitches to create a connection:

Pick up three 8/0s, and sew through the open hole of the corresponding side B in the second flower (a–b).

Pick up a 6/0, a Chexx bead, and a 6/0, and sew through the open hole of the next side B in the second flower (b–c).

Pick up three 8/0s, and sew through the open hole of the corresponding side B in the first flower (c–d).

Pick up a 6/0, sew through the open hole of the Chexx, pick up a 6/0, and sew through the B your thread exited at the start of this step (d–e). Retrace the thread path of the connection, and end this thread.

3. With the working thread from each flower, work as in steps 1–2 to connect the remaining flowers.

Clasp

1. With the thread from the last flower, sew through the beadwork to exit a side B, but this time your thread should be pointing toward the other side B (FIGURE 6, point a).

2. Work the following stitches to attach the clasp:

Pick up a 6/0, five 8/0s, and half of the clasp (a–b).

Sew back through the last three 8/0s (b–c).

Pick up two 8/0s and a 6/0, and sew through the open hole of the other side B (c–d). Sew back through all the beads just added in the clasp connection. When you reach the first side B, sew through it from the opposite side, and then retrace the thread path through the clasp connection once more. End the thread.

3. Add 12 in. (30 cm) of thread to the flower exiting a side B at the other end of the bracelet, and work as in steps 1–2.
