Stitched stocking ornament

An adorable peyote stocking ornament adds a personal touch to the holidays

Stitched stocking ornament

To shape this holiday ornament, work in tubular peyote stitch and use carefully placed increases and decreases. It measures 2 3/8 x 1 ¼ in.

 Stocking 2 3/8 x 1 1/4 in. (6 x 3.2 cm)

  • 11/0 seed beads
    - 1-2 g color A (white)
    - 3 g color B (red)
    - 2 g color C (green)
    - 12 color D (gold)
    - 4 color E (purple)
    - 2 color F (silver)
    - 8 color G (blue)
  • 3-4 mm soldered jump ring
  • Fireline 6 lb. test
  • beading needles, #10

[1] On a comfortable length of Fireline, pick up 40 color A 11/0 seed beads, leaving a 6-in. (15 cm) tail. Sew through all the As again to form a ring, and continue through the first A picked up. These beads make up the first two rounds.

[2] Work the first 36 rounds in tubular peyote stitch, using color A-G 11/0 seed beads, picking up one bead per stitch, and stepping up after each round. End and add thread as needed, making sure the new thread exits the last bead your old thread exited in the same direction you were stitching before.
