Fast peyote: Tubular, odd-count peyote

Step 1: On a comfortable length of thread, pick up an odd number of beads. Tie them into a ring with a square knot. Sew through a bead and pull the knot into the beadwork.

Step 2:
Work in tubular, odd-count peyote stitch for a total of four rounds to establish the tube. Put your work on a form if desired.

Step 3: Pick up the same number of beads you picked up in step 1, and sew through the first bead just added.

Step 4:
Sew through the next up-bead on the previous round. Skip the next bead in the group you picked up in the previous step, and sew through the following one. Repeat around until you’ve gone through the last bead picked up in step 3. You do not need to step up.

Step 5:
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the desired length, adding thread if needed.
