Every once in a while the team here at Facet likes to spotlight one special technique. This time around we are setting our sights on chain mail. For the entire month of February, we’re giving extra special attention to this metal-and-wire technique that’s endlessly intriguing.
We’ve enlisted Lauren Andersen as our guest expert to guide you through the basics and also introduce you to some more advance possibilities.
Whether you’re new to chain mail, a veteran, or anything in between, we hope you’ll learn a lot from the free articles, videos and projects we offer this month. Here are some things you can look forward to:
- A new article each week from Andersen, an experienced instructor who has been weaving tiny jump rings for almost a decade. She’s a familiar face at national craft shows and is a member of the Beadalon Design Team. Her new book is One Jump Ring, Endless Possibilities for Chain Mail Jewelry.
- A new, free chain mail project every Tuesday and Thursday. You’ll find bracelets and necklaces, pendants and earrings – even a watchband!
- Photo galleries to inspire you.
Plus: We’ve added more helpful information to our How-To area. Click the “Wire” category and you’ll have plenty of tips, step-by-step instructions, and tutorials at your fingertips.
We know a few people who are getting ready for the season’s Renaissance Faires, which is always a great way to put chain mail to use. But if that’s not your thing, don’t worry! Chain mail is endlessly adaptable and update-able, as you’ll see.
