Wire-wrapped flowers

Wire wrap six petals and a single round center bead to form pretty flower earrings.

Once you master this easy technique, you'll be able to create an entire field of flowers. Try teardrops or twisted or faceted ovals to create different looks. 

SUPPLIES 

  • 12 11–13 mm petal-shaped pearls
  • 2 6 mm round pearls
  • 32 in. (81 cm) 26-gauge soft wire
  • pair of earring wires
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters 

 

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut a 16-in. (41 cm) piece of wire. Center a petal-shaped pearl, a round pearl, and a petal on the wire.

2. On each end, pull the wire around the back of the petal. Make one or two wraps between the round pearl and the petal.

3. On each end, string a petal. Pull the wire around the back of the petal. Make one or two wraps between the round pearl and the petal.

4. On one end, repeat step 3. On the remaining end, string a petal and make a wrapped loop. Pull the wire around the back of the bead. Make one or two wraps between the round pearl and the petal.

5. Weave each end between each petal and around each wrap. Trim the excess wire and tuck the ends.

6. Open the loop of an earring wire and attach the dangle. Close the loop. Make a second earring to match the first.
