Change the shape of the wire or the color of the crystal, but always make it simply sensational. Consider a single shimmering glass bead for a bolder look.

  • 14 4 mm bicone crystals
  • 9 in. (23 cm) 20-gauge half-hard wire
  • 16 in. (41 cm) 26-gauge half-hard wire
  • 2 1 1⁄2-in. (3.8 cm) head pins
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters
  • metal file or emery board (optional)

You could also use a ready-made earring wire in place of the 20-gauge wire. We used a pair from Gahanna Bead Studio,

Easy wraps step 1
1. Cut a 4 1⁄2-in. (11.4 cm) piece of 20-gauge wire. Make a plain loop on one end.
Easy wraps step 2
2. Cut an 8-in. (20 cm) piece of 26-gauge wire. Wrap it around the 20-gauge wire near the plain loop. Leave a short tail, and grasp it with pliers to keep the wraps taut. Make eight to 10 wraps.
Easy wraps step 3
3. Make a bend in the 26-gauge wire 1⁄8 in. (3 mm) from the last wrap. String a bicone crystal. Wrap the 26-gauge wire around the 20-gauge wire eight to 10 times.
Easy wraps step 4
4. Repeat step 3 five times, ending with three or four wraps. Trim the excess 26-gauge wire and bend the 20-gauge wire as shown. Trim the excess wire, and file the end of the wire if necessary.
Easy wraps step 5
5. String a bicone on a head pin. Make a plain loop.
