Chic wire-wrapped ring

A faux diamond ring winks at its expensive cousins

There’s no powder blue box in sight, but an inexpensive cubic zirconia earring and some wire wrapping will still give you that Tiffany’s feeling. This witty interpretation of a solitaire ring turns ordinary wirework into something special.

  • cubic zirconia post earring
  • 34 in. (86 cm) 22-gauge half-hard wire
  • diagonal wire cutters
  • ring mandrel (optional)
Chic wire wrapped ring step 1
1. Trim the post from a cubic zirconia (CZ) earring as close to the setting as possible.

2. Cut a 34-in. (86 cm) piece of wire. Wrap the wire four times around a mandrel (or your finger) at the desired ring size. String the wire through the CZ setting and wrap the wire around the mandrel once more.

3. Remove the mandrel. On one side of the CZ setting, wrap the wire around the ring-base loops four times.
