How to rehydrate gold metal clay paste

gold metal clay paste
A freshly opened jar of gold paste is generally the perfect consistency for application. However, it will eventually dry out, requiring you to rehydrate it.

Both PMC Aura 22 and Art Clay Gold Paste come with a bottle of special mixing medium that you can add to change the paste’s consistency. In small amounts, this mixing medium improves the paste’s spreading action and adhesion, but too much of it will make the paste gummy and hard to use.

To rehydrate my paste, I add just a drop or two of the mixing medium. Then I use a tiny bit of distilled water for any additional thinning. With this method, I’ve rehydrated and successfully used gold paste that was completely dried out.

I’ve also used the same method to rehydrate Art Clay Silver Overlay paste. I use a drop or two of the mixing medium that comes with the gold paste and then add distilled water. It gives the paste a great application consistency.
