People are starting to finish the patterns that they started while in classes with me (NeedForBeads.US), Sally Battis (, Ren Farnsworth, and Dawn Davis ( Truly, while in class, you should be paying attention to the teachers, having read the pattern instructions before class. The object is not to get your piece done in class, but to learn everything you need, i.e., the needles, thread, beads, thread paths, and concepts to finish the piece, whether in class or at home.

Linda also took other classes. One was with Sally Battis and it entailed decorating a pen with beads (this piece also done by Linda, Figure 2)

The next piece needs only findings or the beaded endcap that I taught in the class. That employed a tubular peyote stitch in one drop technique. However there are several different ways to finish these earrings (Figure 3). Linda is still considering hers.

There may be another way to finish these with thread, beyond what Linda is thinking. That technique is something I learned at The Bead Society of New Hampshire’s Fall Retreat 2015, when a fellow member was trying to finish her Kumihimo piece. Come back next week for more on that.
